Fortune promotes Lady Nikuko on screen alongside Deiji Meets Girl

GKIDS has announced that they will screen an original animated short Deiji meets a girl as part of a double feature alongside the Studio 4°C film Fortune favors Lady Nikuko.

After already confirming that the short anime would be heading to theaters this year, the move now combines the two properties into a double feature, which will begin hitting theaters on June 2, 2022, with GKIDS continuing its ongoing partnership with Fathom Events in the process. In addition to the double feature, audiences will also be able to see an introduction to the film from critically acclaimed director Ayumu Watanabe and creative producer Sanma Akashiya, which will be exclusive to Fathom Events screenings.

Deiji meets a girl premiered in October 2021 in Japan and consisted of 12 episodes, each of which was around 90 seconds long, essentially creating a short film. Fortune favors Lady Nikuko was originally released in Japan in June 2021 and is produced by Studio 4°C, which is best known for its work on the 2019 film children of the sea. The film also marks the next entry into the career of director Ayumu Watanabe, who was also behind children of the seaas well as those of 2014 Space Brothers #0.
