Hamas calls on international community to end Israeli violations in Jerusalem – Middle East Monitor
On the 55th anniversary of its illegal annexation by the occupation state, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement on Monday called on the international community to end Israel’s violations in occupied Jerusalem.
“It has been 55 years since the Israeli occupation ‘annexed’ the eastern part of Jerusalem on June 27, 1967 in flagrant violation of international laws and conventions,” Hamas said. “In light of the international silence and failure to end the escalating occupation crimes against Jerusalem and its Palestinian, Muslim and Christian population, Israel continues its violations against the Holy City through killings, detentions , house demolitions, land grabbing, Judaization and illegal settlements. »
The movement reiterated that the Al-Aqsa Mosque is located in the heart of Jerusalem, which is an integral part of historic Palestine. “[Israel] has no sovereignty or legitimacy over Jerusalem or Palestine. None of the occupation’s attempts to annihilate the Palestinian identity, Arab and Islamic characteristics of Jerusalem will succeed.”
He also stressed that Jerusalem will remain the indivisible and eternal capital of Palestine and a matter of consensus for the Arab and Muslim world. “The Palestinian people will continue to defend Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque with all-out resistance until the liberation and [legitimate] return of refugees. »
All attempts to integrate the Israeli occupation into the region through normalization, alliances and partnerships are unacceptable, Hamas insisted, not least because the occupation state is taking advantage of these measures to intensify its aggression against the Palestinians, their lands and holy places.
In conclusion, the resistance movement called on Arab and Muslim leaders, governments, parties and organizations to take political, diplomatic, media and humanitarian measures to support the Palestinians, especially the residents of Jerusalem. He also urged the international community to assume its responsibilities and put an end to Israeli crimes and colonial policies of Judaization targeting Jerusalem and its Muslim and Christian holy sites.
