The Egham Choir remembers its beloved members with a special concert
CHARITY CONCERT: The concert raised funds for three charities chosen by the families of the missing choir members
New Egham Singers finally had the opportunity to remember four long-serving and much-loved choir members lost during the COVID-19 pandemic at a special memorial concert.
Friends, family and guests joined the choir at St John’s Church, EghamSurrey on Saturday 8th October, to enjoy wonderful repertoire and support three charities chosen by the families of missing choir members – Prostate Cancer UK, Dementia UK and the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
This long-awaited evening with New Egham Singers, incorporating Progeny, led by musical directors Dr Guy Bunce and Patrick Martin, featured songs of remembrance and favorites of those who have passed away. This included an uplifting rendition of Hallelujah, as well as Mr Blue Sky, Can You Feel The Love Tonight and a fantastic performance by Bring Me Sunshine.
The concert ended with a ‘Last Night of the Proms’ section featuring Jerusalem and Rule Britannia, complete with a waving flag! It was performed wonderfully by Steven Spencer and the MDs were ably accompanied by Jonny Lane.
Representatives of the three charities also attended the event and spoke to the public about their causes.
Janet Venables of Dementia UK said: “New Egham Singers, thank you so much for inviting Dementia UK to your wonderful gig. Every penny raised supports and develops Admiral Dementia Nurses, who provide life-changing support to all families affected by all kinds of illnesses. dementia.”
The New Egham Singers will hold their Christmas concert on the evening of Saturday 10th December at St John’s Church, Egham. Tickets will soon be available here
